Wine Tours Castello Tricerchi Shop the castle

The estate extends over the north side of Montalcino for 400 hectares, 13 of which are vineyards. At the center stands the Castle, built in 1441 by the Tricerchi family. The construction constituted an important bastion for the pilgrims who went to Rome along the Via Francigena, now is the headquarters of the Brunello di Montalcino production.

The hill below the Castle is caressed by the vineyards mantle which are divided into 7 plots, the Vigna del Velo (from the name of the overlying aristocratic chapel dedicated to the Virgin of the Veil), the Vigna del Castello, of Sant’Anna, del Lago, dei Cipressi, of the Piano and the New Vineyard.

The winery stands where in the 15th century the Tricerchi family decided to be the best place. In the “secret” of the Castle, in fact, the temperature is almost stable throughout the year, thanks to the mighty walls and the underlying and overlying air chambers. We produce Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, Rosso di Montalcino DOC, Iuli’o IGP Toscana.

WOW! Having a tour, wine tasting, and lunch with the owner (17th generation) at a 15th century castle - yes, this was a VERY special experience! We came here on a tour but reservations are highly recommend (we did, however, see a few “walk-ins” that were given a quick tasting). Tomaszo, the castle owner/heir, gave us a spectacular tour of the grounds, vineyard, and the chapel that holds a piece of the Virgin Mary’s veil (you can decide if that’s true!). We had a lovely lunch of traditional Tuscan meats and cheese, and pici with local tomato sauce. They specialize in Brunello and I ordered 6 bottles - reasonably priced - to be shipped back to the US. Overall a five star experience!

This vineyard was recommended by our hotel Castel Monastro and we could not have been happier. This all family vineyard is wonderfully filled with with history, a warm family, and good wine. This is located in a beautiful picturesque place in Italy welcomed so warmly by the small family. I would definitely visit again and recommend as a place to visit.

Was the highlight of our trip! Our host was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating (and handsome!). We were welcomed into their home, had a wonderful meal and of course sampled different wines. The tour was very interesting and fun to walk around the castle. What a beautiful place!

We passed by and accidentally decided to turn off mainroad and check if there is anything fascinating. And we FOUND IT - 15th century castle Tricerchi and winery. We didn't book any tour, but we were lucky. We had a chance to meet owner. He made our day perfect discovering some history of castle, family stories as well as knowledge about wine making in Montalcino region. We get a lot of interesant stories and knowledge. This place is not commercialized, it's pretty simple and therefor very genuine.

Tommaso, the owner and winemaker at Castello Tricerchi, was a wonderful host- we had lunch in his dining room with him and our private sommelier. He is pretty new to winemaking, but is on the rise! Great Brunello and Rosso Montalcino, and will only get better. This is a lovely setting, and was a highlight of our vacation.

We spent a lovely few hours here in May on a wine tour with Alexandra from Select Tastings ( she's the best!). Tomasso, the owner had lunch with us and gave us the tour of his winery. Amazing. His wine is fantastic and we ordered a case of it to be shipped home! We will go back there next year for sure! thank you Tomasso!!!!!
